SHOOT 2 FLY 004: "I Believe it's Called Freeballin'."

Haven't done a shoot 2 Fly in a while so I figure this would make a nice little three picture post. For those who were around collecting at the time Fewture was making really nice action figures that while they weren't super posable or anything were damn nice looking. and had that unique look that only the designer YASUSHI NIRASAWA could give it (how to describe his stuff.... lets say he can put a cute face on an alien/fetished out body with massive human naked tits sticking out. Needless to say he can draw monsters as well. He can draw tits and monsters. God Bless him).

This was about 8-9 years ago and Satan was a regular release in the second series of Devilman: More Than Demon line. But this Satan here was a limited release gold version (as opposed to the translucent blue one). Officially it's called HEAVENS'S AGE GOLD SATAN 666.

I get very nostalgic just talking about it. Enjoy the pix.

ART OF WAR Gallery: A Moment of Silence After Kicking Ass...

Ok ok, this statue's pose is actually from a pretty well known image in the multi-award winning manga BERSERK by Kentaro Miura but I couldn't think of a romantic-ish title for this post (that's the other guys style). This is actually the exclusive bloody version that comes with the coin. If your wondering where the coin is in the gallery, we forgot it but as soon as we get back from Otakon (no autograph requests please) we'll add it to the gallery.

So for the moment enjoy Guts here in his bloody glory.

Medicom News: Limited Releases... WATAAAAAA!!!!! (yes again)

I know what you are thinking. "What's up with posting the limited Medi's first?" Simple question easy answer; there are only three limited Medi's while the regular releases are five hence I can't pop it out as fast as I can this one.

So lets move on.

Well finally some more pics (tiny as they are) of the Summer Wonderfest Kenshiro from Hokuto No Ken. This year Japan has been celebrating the 25 anniversary of this legendary series and this Kenshiro harkens back to the look of the old show with the red shirt underneath the jacket (although he didn't start off with the boots, he wore shoes. Those boots came later.... yeah yeah nerd alert. Or I could just be seeing things and that "red shirt" is just a shadow).

All I can say is hell yeah and I'm like getting five (I really don't need a new suit).

Next up is the queen of the fighting game genre. This is Chun Li (duh) and she can add a Medicom to her enormous list of items devoted to her. She's the merchandise queen and well she'll look great on this site.

Next up is Kohei Jinnai from Crows X Worst. I wish I can tell you other than the obvious that this is a GLAM store exclusive. Tell you things like how awesome he is. Unfortunatly goddamnit I can't read Japanese and Tendou is at SDCC living it up with all the hot west coast bitches (no not really).

Medicom News: Limited Releases

Said I'd talk about the limited releases and so here I am.

First up is Shadowmoon and you have to send off mail away info that comes with the Kamen Rider Black Medicom. Needless to say this bit of news is what excited me the most. Next we have an olive suit version of Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I doubt this will be the last Snake we get from that game. To wrap up this post we have Kouichi Haruyama from CROWS X WORSE and Father of Ultra.

Medicom News: Limited Releases... RAH 220 Sakurajima Cost How Much?!!

And now since I know you just couldn’t sleep without it, the limited Medi news is here.

Before I go into the details I gotta say that I MUST own this. Not just because I’m a huge fan of the Sakurajima look but I also have the original limited RAH 220 (from years and years ago) Sakurajima. What sucks is that he goes for 16,800 YEN (160.90USD). That’s no chump change. This is a Kamen Rider #1 Sakurajima Toei Hero Exclusive website offering. Expect him to hit the streets December of this year. He’s RAH220 #57.

Next up is HANAKI GURIKO from Crows X Worst. This is a Glam Store exclusive which will be available this month and goes for 14,490 YEN (138.77 USD). Hanaki is RAH #386.

And rounding it this update is RAH #414, Akiko Fuji from the original Ultraman television show from 1966. To get her you need to send in the mailing coupon from Ultraman C-Type Medicom. She goes for 13,440 YEN (128.72 USD) and will also be released January 2009.

BANDAI X MEDICOM News: Limited Releases

While my feelings for the Kamen Rider Den-Oh series is pretty well known I can say that we're getting a release of Momotaros. He was my favorite character in the series and I'm sure I'm not alone in that regard (far from it actually).

Expect him to hit the streets of Japan in October of this year and goes for 17,640 YEN which converts to 170.49 USD (yay economy).

And below is the mail order release Plat Form of Den Oh. His retail is 17,640 (170.49 USD) and won't be out until February of 2009. Yep boys and girls 2009. I wish they did Ryotaro but oh well.

Medicom News: Some LIMITED and EXCLUSIVE 1/6 for You to Gawk Over!

First up is Baoh. Man I had to do a double-take when I first saw him. First I instinctively thought RAOH (a forgivable mistake) then it hit me, "Oh... BAOH". I have an old VHS tape of him somewhere in the blackhole of the Gatack household (aka the basement).

Anyway he is a Winter Wonder Fest exclusive that goes for 17,640 YEN (165.35 USD) and will be released Feb. 2, 2008.

Next is something different. Not another RAH figure but two accessories. You get the Red and Yellow parts to recreate your fav Wingman scenes. Of course that means to fully enjoy the Wingman Medicom you need to have THREE Wingman 1/6. Ouch. The parts are a mail away offer and you guessed it, the coupon comes with the standard Wingman release.

One very interesting facet about the Wingman Medicom is that the production is being done under the watchful eye of creator Masakazu Katsura. If that name sounds familiar then you've probably seen his other, very famous work Video Girl Ai.

Only in Dream Warrior Wingman can you dream on becoming a super hero and actually be one. I really wouldn't mind seeing that series again. It's been awhile.

Yen is 17,640 (165.35 USD) and due out October of 2008.

Kamen Rider ZX (you know, the one from that movie where they all fought a giant robot to really bad disco. Don't remember? Good.) and he's a loaded up rider with extra hands and accessories. He goes for 17,640 YEN (165.35 USD) and is also due out October 2008.

Rounding out the update is the cult classic Ultra Q character, Kanegon. This is a sorta "gold" version where in the episode he eats money and glows/glitters a bit. He's also a winter Wonder Fest Exclusive. His yen is 13,440 (125.98 USD) and is due out Feb.24, 2008.

***whew***

This GLAM Store exclusive and limited figure as this one comes with two new jackets and a new head with a very, mischievous facial expression. It also looks like he has a new hand to but I'm not sure about that. Regardless this new Bouya is a must get.

Great, another thing to buy for the holidays. ^_^'''

RAH BOUYA HARUMICHI No.353
PRICE: 13,440 ( 124.01 USD)
STREET DATE: DECEMBER 2007

ALTER Gallery: Less Than Zero

What excites fans of a very popular female character? You give her a new look and well, Saber looks great in a suit. It's a nice contrast to what she normally wears. This two pack is a Wonderfest Show Exclusive set.

Irisviel von Einzbern isn't hard on the eyes either as she has to be the cutest homunculus ever (which if you've read Hellboy is pretty gross but that's Hellboy). Both are from the prequel to FATE/STAY NIGHT - FATE/ZERO.

Enjoy!

Oh and below is a little video pimping the soundtrack of FATE/ZERO.

Review & Gallery: Sideshow Exclusive Mary Jane Watson Comiquette

"Tiger, You Just Hit the Jackpot!"

By Gatack

Note: I’m not going to waste time talking about all the unnecessary brouhaha from the mainstream press in regards to the fan service* of this statue. She’s wearing more clothes than He-Man and he’s practically naked (no one’s knockin’ on Mattel’s door over his blatant disregard for pants). However I will tell you that I bought TWO Mary Jane statues.

Why? Because two dimpled red-heads are better than one (otherwise known as the beer rule).

We now continue to our scheduled review.

I had just finished devouring second breakfast when I heard a knock at the door. It was the UPS delivery guy hooking me up with some Sideshow goodness. I’ve been waiting for this Comiquette ever since it was first announced with that little teaser image on Sideshow’s main site. I’m a huge, HUGE fan of Mary Jane Watson. She’s the ultimate high school crush, the most popular girl in school, the one who wasn’t above giving your average Latino the time of day (or in my case, not say a word to you in four years except at graduation when said popular girl asked yours truly for a dollar at the Coke machine. She so dug me and my crumpled-up George Washington).

What we have here is the second installment in the line of statues devoted to the art of Adam Hughes, the Sideshow Exclusive Mary Jane Comiquette. This is THE piece I’ve been looking forward to the most.

Review & Gallery: Sideshow Exclusive Emma Frost, White Queen Comiquette

“Love (Frost) Bites
(Or “Scott Summers you lucky ****”)

By Gatack

Note: I know this is kinda late, but I have a good excuse. This statue was received very late, and well, I figured I'd pop out this review to coincide with the release of the Mary Jane statue (which will also have a review).

I’m torn between headlines here. I could use a forced Def Leppard pun or say what I feel. But right now I like Def Leppard more than I do Scott Summers (although in hindsight “Hot for Teacher” could work too, but it’s not as "classy"). As much as this attractive piece is about Emma Frost, it’s also about Adam Hughes. Yes, he can draw very hot women but I think it deserves mention that Adam Hughes can do more than draw curves and different types of breast sizes. He’s an incredible artist who happens to draw hot chicks (anyone seen his work on Legionnaires? His Star Wars covers or his Superman Returns covers? Nice stuff indeed).

This comiquette is based off his art and while a female statue being based on his art, isn't anything new this one deserves special attention-as it’s one of the best thats ever been based off his art.

REVIEW & GALLERY: Venom vs. Spider-Man Diorama from Sideshow Collectibles

"Battle of the Century... Right?"

"Venom? Spider-Man?

Venom VERSUS Spider-Man! Sideshow? Sideshow doing Venom versus Spider-Man statue?!

What? They got pictures? Let me see!!

Oh, that’s it? Really? Wow, what’s the exclusive one look like? Well, that’s a little better."

That my friends, was my initial reaction to seeing the Venom versus Spider-man statue from Sideshow Collectibles. It really wasn't what I was expecting. In fact I know a lot of people weren't too thrilled with what they saw. The forum talk on various forums wasn't too kind. The piece in question wasn't trashed or mocked by any means; it just didn't meet lofty expectations a statue with the names “Venom” and “Spider-Man” would have on it. But now the statue is out and it’s time to take a look at the final product in all it’s glory.

Sideshow just keeps raising the bar when it comes to US Superhero statues. This Ghost Rider Maquette is no exception. SIDESHOW Gallery: A Symphony of Horror

Icons. Everyone throws that word around very easily. Whether it’s because of fanatical character worship or used to prove a point in an argument I can say that today's entry is an Icon. Is he a horror Icon? Sure, but I think it's fair to say that he goes beyond that and is indeed a cinematic Icon. I'm a huge fan of this movie as my fellow blogger Kabuto here would attest to as I've made him watch several versions of this movie (hey its a public domain movie and lots of DVD's to go through to be able to find the best one. Which are the KINO and Image DVD's btw). I missed out the first time Sideshow sold the standard version, however I was lucky enough to get him as a Silver Screen Edition. I am still on the fence when it comes to Sideshow 12” but I really dig their Premium Format items.

Well enough babble! Enjoy the pictures!

ERIC SO Gallery: Darkhorse Hellboy Vinyl

Now when I first got this piece I couldn't help but laugh at how appropriate a subject like Hellboy would be for an Eric So URBAN VINYL figure. That and I laughed because he looked funny. Not funny wierd but funny "ha ha'. I don't own many URBAN VINYL'S but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab a Hellboy one. I was in my... *ahem* "Hellboy phase" thanks to the 2004 movie and the awesome comic by Mike Mignola.

Well after I got my Vinyl I was in a glass case of emotions. Literally the UPS guy took forever to arrive. After much pacing and swearing I got it. It arrived right before my friends showed up. And then it was pointed out to me that my Hellboy Vinyl... that beautifully round-belly figure had a certificate that said number six out of a thousand. That's 006/1000 my friends. That night was truly metal.

ON TO THE GALLERY!!!

MEZCO Gallery: "Oh Crap" - Hellboy SDCC Figure

"Oh Crap." Anung Un Rama AKA HELLBOY says that a lot doesn't he? Well I'm pretty sure if I saw a bunch of floating Japanese heads trying to eat I'd be saying the same thing if not worse.

Anyway I have been very impressed by MEZCO (lets just ignore those GHASTLY Underworld figures shall we?) evers since they released the movie line. And even more impressed by their comic line. It's literally like Mike Mignola's art took 3D form. And as a follow up to last years invisible Lobster Johnson we have the Deluxe Hellboy with floating Japanese heads from the famous Hellboy story... HEADS (what you expected a complicated title?). Heads is based off a Japanese folk tale, Nukekubi.

So lets get right down to it! Click on the pic below to access the gallery - good thing for me HB is very photogenic! ^_^
