It's Wednesday and we all know what that means... Comic Book day! Yaaayyy!
With that said I can't think of a better gallery to put up than this one. It's the Kotobukiya Superman PVC statue. With all the love Batman has gotten over the years it's good to see everyones favorite Last Kryptonian get a statue from Kotobukiya.
Speaking of which, expect the girl of steel to make her way on the blog sometime this year (again, thanks to Koto).
Well this is a nice addition. This is our first Popy gallery on the site which is pretty cool in my eyes. What makes it even more special is that it's a Popy gallery of trading figures. Figures of what? Shocker soldiers that's what!!
You have your Storm Troopers, Clones Troopers, Galactic Marines, Cobra, Hive Agents, Parademons, Monarch butterflies... all pale in comparison to the shocker soldiers. Don't let their appearance fool you, their mean, murderous little buggers.
But sometimes... they have bad days to. A lot of bad days. Killing Kamen Rider's has never been an easy thing you know.
"I'm Not Fat! I'm Big Boned!!!"
It's all about Mazinger. At least that's what it appears to be in the super robot "hierarchy." He's very important in the history of robots, anime, manga, and toys. No denying that. However he's not my number one favorite. He's in my top five somewhere but not my fav. That honor goes to the Ken Ishikawa/Go Nagai creation, the historic Getter Robo (it was the first gatai Super robot). More specifically my favorite, is the Getter Robo 01 from the "CHANGE!! Shin Getter Robo" OVA from 1998.
The Getter from the OVA has a modern yet retro look to it. Mainly in a time of really buff or sleek looking robots, the getter is unique because he's fat (some might call him retro, which he is, but make no mistake; his lima bean body won't be confused with the buff and muscular mecha bodies like Shin Getter or Mazingkaiser). He's this portly looking horned robot that can kick your ass.
That I like.

I admit, I feel sorry for these guys. They are stylish, powerful but they're all dead. But I love them all... except Shin. This set is the NANTO ROKU SEIKEN repaint bust set from Organic/Kaiyodo.
There are many great legendary characters in this set;
Rei, the handsome master of the stylish Nanto Suichou Ken style and friend of Kenshiro. Sad death.
Yuria the love of Kenshiro's life (it's the person wearing the mask) and the Nanto Rokusei Ken Saigou no Shou. Sad death.
Shu, the master of the Nanto Hakuro Ken style and also has the saddest and greatest death I've ever seen in the history of EYES. Oh hell yeah, sad death.
Yuda, master of the Nanto Koukaku Ken style and rival of Rei. Easily the most hilarious "gone bad" moment ever and toughest metro sexual ever. Oddly enough, Sad death.
Souther, The Nanto Emperor and master of the Nanto Hoo Ken. Also the biggest asshole and greatest villain in the whole series, killed and poisoned many. The strongest of the Nanto. Great death.
Shin, born a loser, was manipulated by a loser and died a loser - But had great hair.
Enjoy the gallery and to see the previously released Hokuto Shin Ken set click the image below.

New Gallery up!!! After several series of trading figures by Rement and Yamato over the past 10 yrs, Bandai decides they want to do a line of Kenshin Trading figures as well.The result is quite good. I hope to see a set 2 but who knows. After checking out this gallery I'm hoping you all feel the same, Enjoy!
NOTE: Before you guys start flooding my email with complaints, I already know that the secret figure is missing in this gallery. I hope to add him in a later date. It's just a Blue Kenshin variant but it's still part of the set. I apoligize to all of you who were hoping to check out that figure. I missed it during shooting and will expand this gallery with that figure added at a later date. Again I apoligize. -Tendou
What I thought would be a slow lazy Friday has started off in a pretty interesting way. WB has picked up the movie rights to make a ROBOTECH live action movie. No, not Macross but ROBOTECH (The franchise Harmony Gold holds hostage). While I remember and really liked Robotech back in 1982 (BALTIMORE TV 45 WORD!) I had one immediate thought when I read this;
"This will suck."
A knee Jerk reaction I know. The only talent involved in this is Tobey Maguire which is a one hell of a step in the right direction (unlike the questionable talent behind Voltron movie). Macros... ROBOTECH isn't mindless Mecha show. It's a drama that has one of the most famous love triangels ever. If Tobey will play the role of Hikaru, I mean ... Rick Hunter (which I'm assuming he will) then that could work. Hikaru pining over Minmei is something Tobey could act in his sleep considering how he portrayed Peter's early relationship with MJ. And Drama is just ONE of the essential storytelling techniques that make Macross work.
Then again I'm getting ahead of myself. There is a looming strike on the horizon and this movie needs to be big budget movie. Regardless I'll just sit back, relax and comment sporadically how much Harmony Gold sucks.
That's one hell of a feat considering it's only been released in 84 theaters. Still this should come as little surprise to those familiar with the Evangelion phenomenon of the 90's. Here's a brief write up on it.
Nikkatsu switched to the nearby Milano theater with 1,046 seats, but still had standing-room-only crowds for all seven opening day screenings. The two-day total for the Milano was 12,500 admissions and $130,434. Other theaters around the country averaged $26,086.
Produced by toon house Gainax, the pic is based on the first six episodes of a cult hit TV toon series from a decade ago that has been shown and sold on DVD widely abroad. Prior to release, Nikkatsu kept the story top secret, fueling fan interest.

Hey everyone! When I was at San Diego Comic Con 2007, I had the greatest honor to interview Akiko Kihira from Kotobukiya's ES Line! She's the lady who oversees the creation of awesome, high quality to chibi figures for well known popular titles such as Togainu no Chi, Lamento, Sengoku Basara, Persona 3 and more!
Please click on the picture for the interview :D
ALSO!!!! Something EXTRA for everyone!!
Yeah this is a movie worth keeping an eye on. It kinda snuck up on me,if it weren't for Tendou it would have totally slipped my mind. Other than looking badass it's worth noting that the director is some dude name Miike. I've heard he's done some things. Comic version Medicom are already out, I wonder if we'll get some live action versions.
Looks like Kamen Rider - THE NEXT has some competition as both movies open up 10/27.
