Hot Toys Gallery: "You know, The World Can Always Use More Good Reporters"

Well this figure is finally up! I've had this piece on my shelf for a while but haven't had the chance to work on it until just recently. I was kinda surprised to see this one released so soon after it was announced at the end of 2006 but hey, I've got no problem with that. This 1/6 was a joy to work on and I hope you all take the time to take a look at this gallery.

I know what you're thinking - Where's the Medicom Clark Kent? To that I say *patience*! All in due time, after all we're not just a 1/6 site now are we?

Sideshow just keeps raising the bar when it comes to US Superhero statues. This Ghost Rider Maquette is no exception. Just look at him, clad in leather with a Huge Demonic chain, that skull that's burning with Hellfire and that bad ass pose ready to unleash the vengeance. You gotta admit It's hard to top that Demonic style he's got! This is the Exclusive version with Flame Base of course! Check it out

BANDAI & MEDICOM News: Ten No Michi

Grandmother said this...

I will be the Number ONE 1/6 Figure in 2007

That's right guys, Medicom and Bandai have announced their next joint project together. The Much anticipated by many (Myself included) Kamen Rider Kabuto!! This is great news and hopefully we'll at least see a Gatack 1/6 as well. I'd say that a Dark Kabuto is pretty much a guarantee since he's a straight repaint. Tendou human form is a must for fans like me and of course Hyper Kabuto! Below is the only picture on the net so far that I can find. It's a scan from this month's issue of Hobby Japan. It's a small pic I know but no one has posted up a new one yet. As soon as a larger pic is available you can be sure it will be updated here.

BLOG Talk: Kamen Rider Kabuto FINAL Closing thoughts

Well well, the beginning of the new year has begun which also means the end of the current Kamen Rider Series and the beginning of a new one. Last weekend Kamen Rider Kabuto ended, it was probably my favorite KR series in awhile Although, I think it was mostly because of the Series Protagonist which I named my screen name after. Who's Character I admire. The show certainly had it's Ups and downs and the ending left a LOT to be desired and dissapointed many fans, myself included. It suffered greatly from marketing syndrome. Too much going on in the show for the purpose of selling toys which kept the show from having a solid direction. lack of direction means writers rushing and panicking for a quick, half hearted way to close all the subplots and gives us a rushed overly predictable ending. I'm sure the kids probably didn't mind but for us adults, it's really a downer. I guess in the end it's technically a show primarily aimed at a younger audience, So it's hard to really blast it when considering that fact. Since one shouldn't expect a series to have content for their target audience when they are NOT watching a show aimed at their target audience. Altho I do wish Bandai considered the older fans a bit more..

All negatives aside, KR Kabuto was quite entertaining and did have good characters and moments. Bringing back the respect to traditional Japanese food was a plus for me, Being a Japanese guy who grew up in a traditional background this was definetly a cool thing to see. A strong cast for the most part, Cool gimmicks like Cast off and Clock up which resulted in some pretty cool action sequences, Really nice rider designs was a plus as well. The story at it's strong point was not bad either, altho I still think they should have kept GSL as part of the actual continuity and not an alternate thing. I think it would have made the overall plot stronger. And Let's not forget the most important thing of all which for me had to be Tendou. His character was really the reason I like the series as much as I do. His mannerisms, style, signature gestures and lines were all things I thought were cool and liked very much but most of all his Philosophical outlook and eccentric attitude toward life, surroundings and the people around him are all things I can personally identify with. Which made his character deeper to me. sigh, talking about how much I love Tendou is really making it even more of a tragedy to me that the series ended as bad as it did. Nonetheless I will miss this cast and hope that they have a bright future ahead of them, some of them are already well established and will probably have lots of great future roles but for the rest of the cast who haven't had the time to boost their resume much yet (Mizushima Hiro is one of them) Good Luck to them all!

Bring on Kamen Rider DEN-O!!!

Some Random Goodbye last shooting day pictures from the cast... It makes me get teary too T.T

THE WORST OF 2006*.... Hint: He's Got an "S" on His Chest

I'm sure some might say that I enjoyed doing that to a Superman figure. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I'm just tired of my favorite character being given such terrible merchandise. From those terrible Mattel Superman Returns Figures to that recently released DC Direct 1/4 Museum Quality statue he's been on the receiving end of such terrible products. It's a frustrating process that leaves this one Superman fan expecting the worse instead of hoping for the best.

And now I give you this. The first DC Direct 13" Superman. I could write an opus on what is wrong with him but I don't wish to waste any more of my time on this. In all honestly I don't know what some see in this figure. Is it because of the accessories? That's all I hear people talk about. No one talks about the sculpt, no one talks about the articulation. He doesn't come with anything that's actually high quality. People just talk about the extra set of clothes (which I guess for some is a good substitute for quality). I've come to notice that 2006 was the year of the acceptance and praising of mediocrity and this figure fits right in with that. Sadder is that it's not even at the level of mediocrity.

Feel free to click the image above to take you directly to the gallery of the worst 1/6 of the year. Sadly enough I look at the recently released Aquaman and Batman and I can say that they don't look too bad. Definitely a step or two above their first 13" offering. In March they plan on releasing this doll again with a different head. The head is a huge improvement over the original one. But if the QC is just as bad then what's the point?

I believe it was the vastly Superior Beast Wars version of Megatron that said "New packaging, same product. Loser." I think that sums up my feelings well enough.

*EDIT: Apparently he came out just at the end of '05. And to that I say he's bad enough to represent both years. He's not escaping that easily.'
